The Krupp Company: Rolling a Steel Plate (before 1906)

Abstract

This photograph shows a steel plate in Krupp’s plate rolling factory in Essen. The steel plate was colored white so that the manufacturing process could be captured in a black-and-white photograph. The burning coke positioned on the plate was carefully situated to better illustrate the manufacturing process.
