Ludwig Prandtl, Water Tank (1904)

Abstract

The water tank that Ludwig Prandtl (1875–1953) designed is an icon in the field of modern flow research. Prandtl introduced his ideas about “boundary layer theory” at the Third International Mathematics Conference in Heidelberg in 1904. During the lecture, he used photographs to illustrate flow patterns.
