Radio: Joseph Goebbels Uses the People’s Receiver [Volksempfänger] (1933)

Abstract

At the Radio Exhibition in August 1933, National Socialist Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels (1897–1945) tested the People’s Receiver VE 301 [Volksempfänger VE 301]. The National Socialists hoped that the device would be affordable to low-income listeners. The least expensive version, however, still cost 76 Reichsmark, which was a considerable amount for poorer households.
