Abstract

At the end of the 1960s, the Social Democrat-led Ministry of Health launched a public information campaign dedicated to sexual education. In 1969, this initiative gave rise to the Sexual Education Manual [Sexualkunde-Atlas], which aimed to familiarize German citizens with the biological aspects of sexuality and reproduction. To that end, the manual featured photographs detailing the course of pregnancy.
