Diesel: Experimental Engine (1893)

Abstract

Engineer Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913) designed the first experimental diesel engine in 1893 in collaboration with Maschinenfabrik Augsburg, which later became MAN. In 1897, this prototype gave rise to the first functional diesel engine, which is now on display in the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
