Frankfurt Kitchen (1927)
Abstract
This interior view of the Frankfurt Kitchen shows the arrangement of the various appliances and features, including the stove, the cabinets, and the worktop. The kitchen’s clear lines command attention. The simple design was supposed to lend itself to cleanliness and hygiene and contribute to the rationalization of domestic work processes. The kitchen and its goals can be seen in the context of larger efforts to enhance efficiency in industry at the beginning of the 20th century.
